Watch Lee Byung-hun’s ‘The Match’ Right in Your Apartment? New Geomdan Royal Park City I in
Opens Private On-Site Cinema
DK ASIA announced the official opening of “Royal Cinema Lounge,” a private movie theater within the New Geomdan Royal Park City I, on April 4. As a part of the community facilities in the apartment complex, the cinema was established to allow residents to conveniently enjoy newly released films at competitive prices. This is expected to significantly enrich the cultural lives of the residents.
Following the launch of a private simultaneous screening theater at Royal Park City II in March, the opening of Royal Cinema Lounge further establishes Royal Park City as the first apartment complex in Incheon where residents can watch new theatrical releases. Aiming to become a 5th-generation high-end apartment brand, Royal Park City continues to introduce differentiated community facilities to provide a premium residential experience.
The opening ceremony was attended by key figures such as Seo-gu District Mayor Kang Beom-seok, Seo-gu Council members Kim Hak-yeop and Hong Soon-seo, DK ASIA CEO Cho Jae-man, and representatives from local civic organizations like the Incheon Citizens’ Union and Geomdan Citizens’ Union.
In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Kang stated, “Following the launch of the first apartment in Incheon to offer three meals a day, we now have the first apartment in Incheon where you can watch movies right at your doorstep. I sincerely congratulate Royal Park City on opening this cinema, a milestone in the evolving history of Seo-gu apartments.” He added, “I hope Royal Cinema Lounge becomes a unique residential feature that enhances the quality of life for residents, and I look forward to the development of a residential culture that grows hand-in-hand with the local community.”
The premiere screening featured The Match, a film based on the real-life rivalry between Go legends Cho Hun-hyun and Lee Chang-ho. The movie portrays Cho’s journey to reclaim his position at the top after losing to his protégé, Lee. The film uses the real names of the characters, reflecting their mentor-mentee and competitive relationship. Actor Lee Byung-hun plays Cho Hun-hyun, delivering a vivid depiction of one of the most intense rivalries in Go history.
Residents were particularly excited to watch a movie starring Lee Byung-hun at Royal Park City, which has often been referred to as “Lee Byung-hun’s apartment.” One resident commented, “It’s especially meaningful to watch a Lee Byung-hun movie in the very apartment complex associated with him.” Many felt the film’s selection symbolically highlighted the unique link between the apartment brand and the actor.
Lee Si-yong, head of the residents’ committee at Royal Park City I, said, “From last year, DK ASIA has shown sincere efforts to enhance landscaping, such as planting premium trees and developing parks, even after residents had moved in. This reflects their dedication to creating a true 5th-generation high-end apartment.”
He continued, “This year, additional landscaping upgrades, including playgrounds for children, are planned. The residents’ committee fully supported the idea of opening a theater for simultaneous releases to enhance the value of our living environment, and this has led to the successful launch of the first resident-exclusive cinema of its kind in Incheon.”
The theaters, located in both Royal Park City I and II, are designed as private spaces exclusively for residents. This allows for a comfortable and intimate viewing experience of simultaneously released films. Seat reservations can be easily made through a dedicated app, and tickets are priced at 7,000 KRW — about one-third of what private theaters typically charge — making the experience more accessible.
DK ASIA CEO Cho Jae-man expressed his gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank the apartment representatives and residents who have taken the initiative to raise the value of our apartment.” He added, “We recently partnered with the International St. Mary’s Hospital to provide residents with direct access to medical consultation and examination services. In addition, with the opening of Royal Cinema Lounge and other convenient facilities, we are committed to supporting a comfortable lifestyle.”
He concluded, “Royal Park City I received overwhelming interest at the time of subscription, even trending on Naver’s real-time search with over 87,000 applications for subscription accounts. DK ASIA will continue to invest in Royal Park City to make it not only Korea’s leading 5th-generation high-end apartment, but also the premier landmark residential complex in the Seoul metropolitan area — where residents can truly feel pride and happiness in their daily lives.”
