DK ASIA, Creativity that Breaks the Boundaries Between Nature and Construction... Overcame the High-Interest Storm

2024 Edaily Construction Industry Awards 'Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award - Grand Prize in the Eco-friendly Category'

[Edaily, Reporter Kim Areum] DK ASIA, a major real estate development company, is creating a new affluent area called "Resort Special City" in the Seo-gu district of Incheon, spanning around 4.06 million square meters (approximately 1.23 million pyeong). This project aims to create a high-end resort city similar to how Italy developed its Milan Duomo district into a luxury urban area.

The first premium model development is "Royal Park City II," a 1,500-unit apartment complex in Wangil-dong, Incheon. The project has won the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Grand Prize in the environmental category at the 12th Edaily Construction Industry Awards for its innovative "K-Garden" landscaping design, which promotes sustainable living while respecting the environment. It has been praised for providing residents with an eco-friendly lifestyle, integrating nature into the living space.

The complex combines the experience of a resort and an arboretum within the development, with over 1.5 million flowers, trees, and evergreen plants providing a seasonal, nature-filled environment. The landscaping exceeds the legal requirements, with a greenery ratio of 38%, offering residents the experience of living in a natural environment. This is a thoughtful effort by DK ASIA to ensure comfort and safety through daily exposure to nature.

Outside the complex, five theme gardens covering 66,000 square meters—equivalent to 10 football fields—have been created. These include the "Picnic Garden," which brings a forest into the city, featuring a pagoda for relaxation; the "Royal Garden," with a grand entrance and a sculpture fountain surrounded by a fir tree-lined path; the "Family Garden," inspired by New York's Central Park, featuring water and exercise facilities; the "Flower Garden," with vibrant seasonal flowers perfect for cultural events; and the "Kids Water Garden," inspired by whales, with playful water fountains.

The landscaping includes sensory elements like sounds and scents. Key walking paths have cascades that produce cheerful water sounds, and specially designed lighting enhances the natural experience. The area features a variety of trees, including evergreens like pine and boxwood, to ensure green space year-round.

DK ASIA has planted over 80% evergreen conifers in the landscaping to allow residents to enjoy the beauty of greenery in all seasons. Notably, they’ve planted Silverberry trees, known for their fragrant flowers in winter, at heights exceeding four meters to elevate the design. The landscaping employs mounding techniques to create a three-dimensional feel, allowing residents to enjoy diverse views of nature.

Chairman Kim Jung-mo of DK ASIA stated, "DK ASIA is continuously innovating to create spaces that enhance the quality and value of life, not just buildings. The K-Garden we've created is an example of how we are shaping the future of residential culture, and we will continue to develop creative, eco-friendly urban spaces."

Through this award, DK ASIA aims to transcend the typical residential developments in South Korea by combining urban and resort elements, creating a high-end resort city that will set a new paradigm for residential culture and world-class urban development.
